CLUB NAME: Eglinton Shotokan Karate Club

AIM:
The aim of the club is to teach the traditional martial art of Shotokan karate to all ages while adhering to the auspices of ASK (Academy of Shotokan Karate) under the guidance of Sensei Dave Hazard 7th Dan.
OBJECTIVES:
- To provide coaching for beginners to encourage more people to take up karate as a means of self defence and self enhancement.
- To enter competitions at all levels and to provide for all standards to compete.
- To run club nights that allow for all levels of participation.
- To run a juvenile section as part of the club to ensure that new students will continually join the club.
- To advertise and promote the club with its activities so that people are aware of up and coming events.
- Membership is open to anyone who wishes to practise karate and abide by club and Academy of Shotokan Karate rules.
- Club membership may be restricted, to be decided at the AGM of each year.
- The club affairs will be governed by the committee of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and 3 others of which shall be elected by Chief Instructor at a later date.
- An Annual General Meeting (AGM) shall be held in the month of September.
The Agenda shall consist of the following:
- Apologies.
- Minutes of last AGM.
- Matters arising.
- Report on past season by the Chairman.
- Report on accounts.
- Proposed programme for next season/karate year.
- Election of officers for next season/karate year.
- Any other business.
All members shall be advised of the date, time & location of this meeting at least 2 weeks in advance.
For a motion to be passed there must be a 70% majority of the members in the vote.
Extraordinary General Meetings (EGM) may be called by the committee and must be called within 14 days if a written request signed by one quarter of the club membership received.
The treasurer shall keep correct and up to date accounts showing all transactions and financial affairs of the club. A statement of accounts for the financial year shall be presented at the AGM.
Cheques that are made out on behalf of the club must be signed by two authorised signatories.
The Secretary shall be responsible for all club matters of a general administrative nature, including notification of meetings and will be responsible for the keeping of continuous records that are to be passed on in the event of change of post. Alterations to the constitution require two thirds of club members to be present and voting in favour.
The annual subscription shall be discussed and fixed at each AGM.
The committee shall have the power to bring about rules governing the conduct of the club.
Such rules shall be binding on membership and all members must be made aware of any changes.
Any matter in relation to discipline or the breaking of the club rules shall be dealt with by the club committee. Any action as a result must be decided by a majority of two thirds of the committee.
All complaints will be investigated and dealt with by the committee of the club.
Anyone representing the club in competition, must be a member of the club.
The club and all its members will follow the rules and guidance of the ASK (Academy of Shotokan Karate).
The club is agreed to all the principles set out in the CODE OF CONDUCT.
